I decided to paint even larger than my Amalfi Coast series. This painting is 3x5 feet. I chose this size for this particular painting because I wanted to paint an underwater image of coral and all of the colors and textures that are below the sea, but I also wanted to show light at the top of the canvas to portray the ocean's surface. In order for me to really achieve this, I needed a rather large, narrow size. I added torn papers and a lot of gel mediums to the canvas to achieve the look I wanted. I was quite pleased with the finished project and have decided to move forward with an "Underwater Explorations" series.
